Iguaçu's
falls are one of the planet’s natural wonders. Thousands of Brazilian
and foreign tourists visit one of the main tourist attractions on the
country. However, there's much more to do on Foz. On Parque Nacional do
Iguaçu, where are the falls, there are exciting sailings and hikes
through the exuberant native forest. Visitor can chose to see all of this
from the top, on a helicopter flight.
One visit to Usina de Itaipu (Itaipu hydroelectric power station) reveals
the very large dimensions of its installations. On Parque das Aves (Aves'
Park), aviaries accommodate several kinds of different springs. Foz do
Iguaçu has an international golf field. There's also the Ecomuseum,
the zoo on Bosque Guarani (Guarani's Woods) and Marco das Três Fronteiras,
territorial division between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. At the Paraguayan
city Ciudad del Leste, boundary to Foz, it's possible to buy imported
goods free of charge till the values determined by Federal Revenue. For
accommodation, the city offers since sophisticated resorts to hotels with
reasonable prices.

Iguaçu falls
Formed on Iguaçu river, the Iguacu falls go down an average
height of 60 meters by an extension of 2700 meters. The number of falls
varies from 275 to 150, depending on the river's outflow. The major part
of the falls is located in Argentina, but all its beauty can be admired
on Brazilian side. Surrounded trails by ostentatious subtropical forest
of Parque Nacional do Iguaçu (Iguaçu National Park) takes
the visitor to runways and lookouts to observe the falls. There’s
a well-located lookout very near to Garganta do Diabo.

Houses the falls, and UNESCO considers it Natural Patrimony of Humanity.
It preserves Atlantic Forest area with a very diversified fauna and flora.
About 350 birds springs live there, 250 butterflies and 50 mammals, and
some of them are threatened by extinction, such as jaguar and peito-roxo
kite. The visitor can exploit the park with hikes through the forest,
kayak and boat sailings. There are places ideal for rafting, rappel and
arvorismo. There's a complete infrastructure to host visitors, such as
internal transportation and snack bars, besides a traditional resort.
From the other side of the sea, it's Parque Nacional del Iguazu, in Argentina,
that also offers good strolls.

On Parque Nacional, the visitor crosses trails in open vehicles till a
place he/she will board in an inflatable small boat. In an exciting adventure,
the visitor navigates by canion waters, arriving very near to Garganta

It's the better way to see the incredible dimensions of falls. Other option
is to fly over Hidrelétrica de Itaipu (Itaipu Hydroelectric Power
Station).

Worldwide record holding on electric energy generation, American Society
of Civil Engineer considered it one of the seven wonders of the modern
world. Result of Paraná river diking, the Lago de Itaipu (Itaipu
Lake) supplies the power station and encloses 15 towns. The hydroelectric
pertains to Brazil and Paraguay. Visits are guided and take tourists to
know its external installations, going through the barrage and lookout
with a sight of the spillway that forms an enormous water curtain.
INFRASTRUCTURE
The hotels on Foz do Iguaçu have establishments with different
categories. Resorts and big hotels are located at Rodovia das Cataratas
(Cataratas Road). In the city center there are other options with more
reasonable prices. There are restaurants with different specialties, and
branches from the main banks.
HOW TO GET THERE
Foz do Iguaçu is on Paraná’s extreme west, 640 Km
far from Curitiba by the road BR - 277. There are buses from the main
capitals on the country. The airport has regular flights.
